American Idol: Top 2 (aka: Season 10 Finale)

What a hot load of garbage! I'm back from my week-long American Idol strike, and for what? This?!? What a waste, what a true waste.

Thankfully, last night's episode was only an hour long. If I had to sit through any more of that dull crap, I probably would've started carving my own wrists, just for some form of entertainment.

Just two country bumpkins

The most exciting part of last night's American Idol, was probably my frantic drive home at 6:59pm. I was super excited to see if Lauren was going to perform or not, after all the hype surrounding her "lost" voice. Girrrl, please. I bet she was sobbing backstage, as usual.

I wish Haley had taken Lauren's spot last night, maybe the performances wouldn't have been quite as coma inducing.

Round 1: Scotty & Lauren reprise their favorite songs

In this round, Scotty & Lauren performed their favorite song from their past performances this season. Pretty self-expanatory.

Scotty McCreery
Performed:"Gone" by Montgomery Gentry

Scotty started this performance with a really d-baggish strut through the audience, and onto the stage. Typical Scotty.

And did anyone else find it incredi-dumb, that Scotty swung the mic like a bat, at the end of this performance? What a lame-o.

Performed: "Flat On The Floor" by Carrie Underwood

Has she worn this exact same outfit before? Lauren always has the ugliest outfits, and then she repeats them! What nerve. This outfit wasn't that bad, but overall, Lauren needs some serious guidance when it comes to dressing herself.

As for her vocal performance, her voice sounded pretty strained, but overall it wasn't completely dreadful.

Scotty McCreery named George Strait as his idol.

George Strait chose one of his own songs for Scotty to sing. Kind of an arrogant, self-serving choice, if you ask me. No wonder George Strait is Scotty's idol. Birds of a feather.

Lauren Alaina
Performed: "Maybe It Was Memphis" by Pam Tillis

Lauren Alaina named Carrie Underwood as her idol. Not a bad choice. Carrie's career serves as the perfect model for Lauren.

Carrie had a much less self-serving song in mind for Lauren than Scotty's idol, Georgey. Good girl, keep working on that public image!

Lauren wore a super sparkly, cupcake-like tutu of a dress. Interesting choice. If Lauren doesn't win American Idol, maybe she can enter some princess pageants. I hear those are all the rage down South. Freakin' hillbillies.

The songs sung in the final round of the first part of the Season 10 American Idol finale (whoa, that's a mouthful!) will be the winner's first single. How exciting, right? No, how very, very dull.

Scotty's final performance wins the award for MOST BORING PERFORMANCE EVER. Seriously, I almost fell asleep.

Way to put the crap icing on the crap cake, Scotty! Giving the most boring performance, in a night of boring performances, is actually a pretty big feat. Hats off to you, sir!

Awww, a song to her mommy. How cuuuuuute.

Touching, really. Maybe it's because I have a heart of stone, or maybe it's just the fact that I don't enjoy my mother all that much, but I didn't find this performance all that enthralling. Good enough, but nothing to write home about.

My bets are on Scotty McCreery. Lauren, although she is also dull, gave slightly better performances last night; but Scotty has schemed his way into the hearts and minds of every little girl in the country. He's even hypnotized some of our country's not-so-intelligent women. What a bunch of simple-minded floozies.

Whatever. See you tonight, after the results are revealed in Part 2 of the American Idol Season 10 Finale!

I think earlier this season, I said something along the lines of: 
"If Scotty McCreery wins American Idol, I swear to god, I will burn down the American Idol studios".

American Idol: Top 4

This is it, ya'll: American Idol is down to the Top 4. These kids have really made it. Only contestants who made it to the Top 4 have really gone on to become anything of even mild importance.

Last night's performance episode of American Idol had no real theme, it was more of a mish-mash of two themes. So I will call it "Mish-Mash Night"

I have realized that I have been much too nice lately. I just get so wrapped up in the lives of these little s#!ts, that I forget to be true to myself! So I tried to put my meanest foot forward for this week's American Idol recap. I'm sure I failed miserably.

So who's going home tonight on American Idol? Read the full review, like good little children, then at the end of that rainbow, lies my prediction.

But no matter what, all of these kids are going home this week, some as "hometown heroes," one as a sad, sad loser.

Round 1: Songs that Inspire the Contestants

James Durbin
Performed:“Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey

Oh, Jamesy, this was not your best.  It was all kinds of pitchy, and I kept reminiscing on your past amazing performances, hoping this one would get better. It didn't.

The judges said they loved it... so why did we see J.Lo cringing when he get to those last notes? James should still win this thing, this just was not as good as the judges/producers obviously want us to believe.

I honestly thought this performance was wonderful. So why did the judges rip her apart? Actually, J.Lo offered constructive criticism, and RANDY tore her a new one.

Why you gotta be like dat, Raaaaaaaandy?
Then Steven Tyler, being the kind soul that he is, cut Randy off, & gave Haley the praise she deserved. So what if the song choice may not have been the most popular, well-known song? She sang it well, & Randy just acted like a jackhole.

Are you serious right now, with that outfit? Oh hell to da no!

What a hideous, hideous dress. There was burgundy satin, a high-to-low hem, leopard print peeking out underneath, AND jewels! WOW. Wow, in the worst possible way.

With all of that gawdy detail, Lauren has got the whole country fooled - she is NOT from the South, she is a straight up Jersey girl, through and through. I was so distracted by the dress, I have no idea how her singing was. Does it even really matter, though?

This second round of songs were all practiced under the tutelage of Queen GagMe, otherwise known as Lady GaGa. Surprisingly, she gave everyone really good advice. Not surprisingly, she scared us all with her face, and her penis heels.

SO GOOD! So good. Oh, she really gave the judges what for.

I'm actually surprised that Lady GaGa gave Haley good advice. Watching her be so nurturing almost warms the heart... but then you remember that face. GOOD GOD. She never ceases to NOT surprise me with her ugly.

Even more surprising, was the fact that Lauren actually MOVED during this performance. Wow. She's alive? Who knew!

SO, WHO'S GOING HOME TONIGHT ON AMERICAN IDOL??

I think it will be Haley Reinhart leaving us tonight.

Although, in my not-so-humble opinion, she isn't the one who deserves to leave. I would much rather see Scotty off. Or Lauren. Lauren is a far inferior performer, but the voters seem to generally love her. She's a good enough singer, but she needs to stop being such a big 'fraidy cat. Haley seems so much more mature for her age. It'll be a shame to see her go.

There is always the chance that Haley will stay though, who knows! Ahhh, the suspense is killing me!

UPDATE TIME:

Oh. My. God. This was the worst American Idol elimination night EVER.

James Durbin was sent home. HOW COULD THIS BE? We might as well quit watching this show now, 'cause the contestants left are BORING, especially compared to James.

Tie me up and lock me away for lunacy, but I cried my eyes out for a good 15 minutes, when Ryan announced that James would be the one leaving. This is all just so ridiculous. 

American Idol Top 5 Recap

O. M. G. There are only 5 contestants left. Do you know what that means? Next week, there will be only 4 left! (Betcha couldn't figure that out, right?)

It also means that now, there is enough time during the American Idol performance shows to make let each kid sing twice.

YAY FOR ME! – twice as much to write about. And I was SO excited about being able to write shorter & shorter reviews every week. Ho hum, pig's bum.

During last night’s show, each contestant sang a song from “now” (from the past 5 years or so), and a song from “then” (from the 1960s and 1970s). Hence, the clever American Idol producers dubbed the theme of the night, "Now & Then".

This week, you’re gonna have to wait ‘til the end of the post, to find out who I think is going home (I feel relatively confident about my prediction this week!).

“Now” Song: “Closer To The Edge” by 30 Seconds To Mars

Honestly, this performance was quite pitchy. It was definitely not his best performance. It might even have been James' worst performance so far.

BUT James’ worst is still FAR better than Naima’s best. ‘Memba her? I almost can’t believe I just compared the two. Next to Naima, this was the best performance in the world. I’m totally on Team James.

American Idol: Top 6

As contestants are slowly weeded out each week, more & more of American Idol's 90-minute time slot opens up, and it simply must be filled! 

Last week, AI producers filled the time by forcing us to watch a terrible group performance given by the already-forgotten contestants of yore. But this week, the producers decided to give us something a little better!

What's better than crappy group performances? Crappy duets!

The American Idol kiddos were paired according to who would be most likely to fall madly in love, in order to potentially create even more buzz around the show - This includes the pairing between James & Jacob. (I bet James was sad that he didn't get to sing his duet with Stefano.)

A pretty terrible duet, overall. There was just SO MUCH going on, between the screaming, and trills, it was just a lot to handle.

But if nothing else, we got to catch a glimpse of Jennifer Lopez's absolutely amazing legs when these two spun her chair away from the judges' table. Holy Lord Almighty. Time for the rest of us to hit the gym!

American Idol: Top 7

The American Idol contestants have been whittled down to the Top 7!

Opening last night's show, was a performance by the 6 contestants that have already been booed off the stage (of the original Top 13). In case you've already forgotten who their names, they are: Ashthon Jones, Karen Rodriguez, Naima Adedapo, Paul McDonald, Pia Toscano, & Thia Megia.

Their performance was nothing less than dreadful, serving as a true reminder of why we sent them home in the first place. Goodbye, and good riddance! Especially Naima. Lord knows, I never want to see her ugly mug again!

Now that that's out of the way, let's get on with the show!

American Idol Recap - Top 7: Songs of the 21st Century

How quickly the smiles shall fade to tears

Last night, the contestants performed songs from the 21st century. For you dum-dums out there, that's any song recorded in the year 2000 or later.

Before each performance, the producers of the show had the other contestants talk s#!t about the contestant that was about to perform. Naturally, I enjoyed these little snippets considerably.

Scotty McCreery: I would LOVE to see him go home tonight, if not sooner. (Update: Didn't go home. WHEN WILL THE PAIN END?!?)

As usual, I found Scotty's performance quite unbearable. His voice is tolerable, but I cannot stand him. He positively reeks of douchebaggery. Not only that, but he has grown more dull with each passing week. Who knew that was even possible! BYE!

Unlike Scotty, James gets better and better with each passing week. He started off good, and has grown into a completely amazing entertainer. I would definitely pay to see him perform, he always puts on a great show.

Her performance last night was pretty average. She seemed off-tempo in the beginning, and a little pitchy at certain points throughout the song. On top of that, she didn't really seem to have the right emotion for this song.

She's definitely in tonight’s bottom 3, and has a high possibility of going home, which is too bad, 'cause I was really starting to like her.

Apparently, Jacob’s father died when he was young (I think he said he was 12 years old). I almost started crying before his performance even started. 

Even if he hadn’t sang well, I would’ve loved it. For god’s sake, the man has no father! I’m sure America feels the same, and voted accordingly, but who knows, I have been wrong about the idiot voters before.

Is Casey losing weight? He looks good! His performance last night was great, as usual. He really is a brilliant musician, which makes me proud. I’m so sick of today’s “singers” who don’t have a real musical bone in their body.

I also love that Casey acts on any idea that might happen to pop in his head. That kiss on the cheek he gave to J.Lo? Just great. I bet Marc Anthony was super jealous.

Liked it. Didn’t love it. This wasn’t Stefano’s best performance ever, but I still really like him. He did something completely different from his previous performances, and I thought it was upbeat and fun. Good job, Stef-o!

I love this! Every week, another contestant goes home! I love it, mostly because I don’t have to take as many notes while I watch American Idol - paying attention is hard!!

But this week (and probably every coming week for the rest of the season) is a real nail-biter. WHO WILL LEAVE US? It’s such a tough call, everyone left is really good. However, some of them – err, ONE of them is not someone I enjoy. Guess who?

She certainly sang this song better than Miley could/did. To be perfectly honest, that’s not a tough accomplishment at all.  It’s not like she climbed Mount Everest or anything.  Still, overall, a pretty good performance, I had a few minor issues with some of her pitches, but that’s nothing new.

Casey brought out his upright bass again! As usual, I loved it. I especially loved the bass & piano interlude. Week after week, Casey displays musical talent at its very finest.

Casey originally planned to sing this song, then, on advice from Jimmy Iovine, changed it, but then decided to change it back. Oh lord, Jimmy looked PISSED! It didn’t seem to me (or the judges) to be such a bad decision on Casey’s part, but we’ll have to wait and see!

Jacob makes me so happy when he sings. I just absolutely love him. His crazy facial expressions, his huge voice, everything is just dandy.

James Durbin: HERE TO STAY!

Sang “Heavy Metal” from, what else: Heavy Metal

Could any song be more perfect for James? Maybe. But I think he just becoame my favorite contestant this season.  He is such an amazing performer! I just want to dance along with him every time he performs. He’s absolutely incredible.

James, like Casey, really pissed off Jimmy Iovine for not taking his advice regarding song choice. Jimmy just needs to take a little nappy, methinks.

Another song idea for James: Anything from Detroit Rock City, one of my favorite movies ever.  I personally would have enjoyed that greatly.
