Gladiators Arrested by Rome Police



Gladiators arrested outside Rome's Colosseum by police authorities in an undercover operation aimed to end a violent racket operation caused by these impersonators who are preying on tourists around Rome's most famous sites.



At least 20 gladiator impersonators from five tourist agencies and seven families mostly found outside the Colosseum, Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Venezia and in front of St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican were arrested following reports of attacking and intimidating competitors in order to protect their business of collecting up to $14 per photo for having their pictures taken alongside tourists in front of attractions.



Police officers who disguised as gladiators in order to conduct a successful raid operations were beaten up by the alleged criminal gladiators before other undercover officers came in to rescue their colleagues.
