According to reports, the tour bus she was riding in crashed into an overturned truck on Interstate 70 near Vandalia Illinois.
Cosgrove was traveling to her next concert venue in Kansas when the accident occurred injuring several people. The bus driver was flown to the hospital and is reported in critical condition.
Cosgrove broke her ankle and was taken to the hospital for treatment and observation and has cancelled her shows in Wichita Kansas and Denver Colorado.
Her rep released a statement saying,
"Miranda Cosgrove's tour bus was involved in an accident early this morning in Illinois on I-70, just outside of Vandalia. There were five passengers on the bus, and Miranda suffered a broken ankle. At this time, we are told everyone will be fine. Because of this, her tour is postponed until further notice. Miranda thanks everyone for their understanding and support."
Miranda's mother was also injured in the accident but is expected to recover. One reporter on the scene said the accident was much worse then she thought saying,
"Miranda's mom was on the bus with her and got really beaten up by the crash. She's expected to fully recover, but it's scary because the driver was hurt, too, and he's in really bad shape because the injury happened close to his heart. This was a life-threatening crash. A piece from the tractor-trailer went straight through the windshield and the driver's arm was sliced all the way through."
A local news channel took the following footage showing the tour bus badly damaged and being towed away.
In addition to her role as Carly Shaw on “iCarly”, the actress has appeared in “The Naked Brothers Band”, “The Wild Stallion”, “Drake & Josh”, “Unfabulous”, and other Nickelodeon shows.
She is currently on the road touring as part of her “Dancing Crazy Summer Tour” and until yesterday was performing with teen sensation Greyson Chance.
