Painting Reality

In Rosenthaler Platz, Berlin 500 liters of waterbased environmentally-friendly paint was dropped onto the asphalt by bikers. This paint was the spread by 2,000 cars creating a very interesting and unique piece of art.

Watch the masterpiece unfold in this video, it is almost mesmerizing!

Underwater Gallery

In 2009 an innovative museum was open in the water surrounding Cancun...that's right water.  An underwater museum was formed by three people, The President of the National Marine Park and The President of the Cancun Nautical Association and an Artist, Jason DeClaires Taylor, who created over 400 life size sculptures. This museum is one of the world largest underwater and permanent exhibitions.

Permanent Exhibition

My favorite concept behind this entire project is how the artist and committee that founded this exhibition has a real goal in mind and that is to bridge the gap between art and environmental science.  They are trying to directly form a corellation between  reef life and the work of art itself.  How amazing is that?

Art vs. Reef Life

A School of Fish have new obstacles to swim around

The Cancun Marine Park has a vast amount of visitors over 750,000 a year.  That high number really places pressure on the resources of the natural reef.  The material each of the 400+ figurative Sculptures are made of premotes coral re-growth and life.

In 2011 they completed new installations for visitors to explore. Another goal they have for this project is to eventually host special underwater cultural events.  I hope I get the invite!

Recovering Lazyholic

We've all got a little lazy in us, some more than others. These "Reminders" from photographer, Erin Hanson are so great! She refers to her series as Childish Treatment for Childish Behavior, ha I love that. I think we could all use these little reminders once in a while.

Check out Erin's site, Recovering Lazyholic, for more fun photography and design.

The Perfect Pothole

A Canadian couple has completely blown my mind with this innovative photography series.  My Potholes is a project that is fueled by their quest to find the "perfect pothole."  My favorite part of the entire project is that most of the shots are completely improvised on set.  The artists states that "camera placement and model angles and direction are discussed on the set, we didn't use photoshop to create the image or add props.  Since the POTHOLES series is shot entirely on location during uninterrupted traffic, vigilance is key."

Flag Day

Today is the day we celebrate the adoption of the America Flag, which happened the year of 1777.  Everyone should observe this day as a US citizen and fly the American Flag high this week.  Here are some creative ways to display the flag

Completely Chevron Crazy

We loved this bold pattern so much that we painted canvas to display as art in the built-in shelves that frame our mantel.

All Mapped out

My best friend and roommate in college always had a thing for maps, she loved to display them in every room of our shabby college apartment.  I recently stumbled upon these other ways that maps are conceptualized through fashion, body art, furniture and keeping warm.  Love them all!

Mamika & Papika...Grandma's Superhero Therapy

How awesome is this series by French photographer, Sacha Goldberger? The story is even cooler! Goldberger took these pictures to cheer up his 91-year-old grandmother who was lonely and depressed.

This one is from the newest series featuring Mamika's new boyfriend, Papika. Too funny! With the success of the first series, Goldberger created a MySpace page for his grandmother. With over 2,000 friends, she receives congradulatory and inspirational messages, reminding her how lucky she is.

This one is my favorite!
