Taylor Lautner Buys $200K Mercedes and Soulja Boy Snags a $30 Million G5 Jet – What Recession?

Last week for his 21st birthday, music rapper Soulja Boy laid down some serious celebrity
size stacks of money by purchasing a $35 million Gulfstream G5 jet.
On top of that, he plans to spend another $20 million to trick it out with bling and personal upgrades like Italian leather seats, flat screen televisions, liquor bars and Brazilian hardwood cabinets.
And to top it off he is having a custom paint job done on the outside of the jet with his name and personal logo.
And don’t even ask about the price of insurance, jet fuel, pilots, landing fees, gate fees, storage, and maintenance.
Soulja Boy becomes the youngest African American music artist EVER to buy his own private G5 jet.

Life is good.
Now we learn from TMZ that 19-year-old “Twilight” star and lady’s man Taylor Lautner just spent over $200,000 for a new silver 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
Not bad. Not bad.
Lautner’s new ride sports gullwing doors, a 6.2-liter V-8 engine, unique aluminum structure, front-mid-engine layout, and a dual-clutch gearbox.
It packs 653 horsepower capable of 6300 rpm’s and gets 14 miles per gallon in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

But what is the rest of the world to think when we see these uber rich young celebrities drop this kind of cash on toys when a lot of people are still looking for jobs, our countries out of money, and our friends are losing their homes?
I can see Lautner buying a nice ride after all the success he has had, but seeing Soulja Boy with a G5 just scares me to death.
If he ever declares bankruptcy there better not be one tear shed for him – or I’ll puke.
At what point do they stop? Will they? Can they?

Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald Engaged
We know Paul McDonald from American Idol.
Soon we will get to know them as husband and wife.
Just 6 months ago nobody knew who Paul McDonald was, but after his audition on American Idol that all changed.
The raspy voiced “Rod Stewart” sound-alike was eliminated midway through the season, but not before building a huge fan base.
When news broke midseason that Paul and Nikki were dating it took us by surprise as they had just recently met and both had busy schedules.
By the end of American Idol they were dating and appearing in public together, and just last night they attended the MTV Movie Awards together where she flashed a big fat engagement ring.
And today they announced they are engaged and have plans to get married.
Wow, things sure do move fast in Hollywood!
McDonald admits that he has never seen any of the Twilight flicks but now plans to watch them and see what they’re all about.
Nikki told E! News,
"He's the one. I love him and I don't care. I've never met anyone like him. I've never met anyone who has such a good solid heart and comes from such a good solid family and is just a genuine person. We have the exact same sense of humor. I've never laughed so much with anyone as I do with him."
Paul will hit the road later this month with the American Idol Summer Concert tour and Nikki is gearing up for the next “Twilight” Breaking Dawn release.

Ex American Idol Paul McDonald Confirms a Relationship with Twilight Star Nikki Reed
I guess it really is a small world – even in Hollywood.Paul McDonald, who was voted off American Idol last week, has admitted to a relationship with Twilight actress Nikki Reed.
McDonald told reporters in New York,
"Nikki is super cool, She's been real supportive of this whole American Idol thing. She's actually pumped up now because she likes my original material way better than all the stuff I have done on the show."
Paul says the two are officially dating but don’t have the chance to spend a lot of time together because of their schedules.
Nikki is currently filming the movie sequel “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” and is then scheduled to start work on the thriller “Downers Grove” - a thriller set at a high school gripped by an apparent curse that claims the life of one student every year, and the student who thinks she's next.
And Nikki is no stranger to Hollywood and the movie industry. She has spent the last ten years in some of the biggest movies out there like “Eclipse”, “Privileged”, “New Moon”, “The Last day of Summer”, “American Gun”, and “Lords of Dogtown”.
McDonald, in addition to his appearance on season 10 of American Idol, is the front man and lead singer for a band out of Nashville called “The Grand Magnolias”.
The group already has a new album ready for release and has a great preview of the tracks and featuring videos from the road shot during the winter of 2010.
The single “Sing Out” has become popular on the Nashville circuit and is one of McDonald’s favorite songs.

New Moon
Finally saw New Moon yesterday! It was released last Thursday but that was the day before Raya Haji and I was leaving town that night. Did not get a chance to watch it in Kuantan...Anyway, my colleague asked me to go and watch it with her so we went.
For those who haven't seen Twilight, here's a brief recap of the movie (courtesy of Wikipedia):
Bella Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona to live with her father in Forks, Washington to allow her mother to travel with her new husband, a minor league baseball player. After moving to Forks, Bella finds herself involuntarily drawn to a mysterious, handsome boy, Edward Cullen. She eventually learns that he is a member of a vampire family who drinks animal blood rather than human. Edward and Bella fall in love, but James, a sadistic vampire from another coven, is drawn to hunt down Bella. Edward and the other Cullens defend Bella. She escapes to Phoenix, Arizona, where she is tricked into confronting James, who tries to kill her. She is seriously wounded, but Edward rescues her and they return to Forks, having killed James.
So now, in New Moon, the story continues as Bella is dating Edward... but during her birthday celebration, she got a cut and the scent of her blood caused one of the members of the Cullens family to attack her. However, she was saved... but Edward now thinks being in her life is/will cause Bella harm so he packs up his family and left. Bella, in all kinds of hurt, turn to Jacob Black, for comfort.
Jacob BlackIn the mean time, the surviving vampires from James' coven, Victoria and Laurent is back and trying to take revenge on Edward and Bella.
Lucky for Bella, Jacob also happened to be a werewolf, or in this case, a shapeshifter that turns into a wolf. The wolves in Forks have been guarding the land from invading vampires.
Also, with her recklessness, Bella sees Edward's spectre so she decides to do all sorts of dangerous stuff just to see him again. This leads to a misunderstanding with Alice, Edward's vampire sister who gets premonitions. Alice thought Bella had committed suicide and so did Edward. Edward decided to die because Bella's dead.
Enter the Volturi, like vampire royalty or vampire police. Apparently, there are rules to vampiredom. The number one rule - vampire's existence must be kept a secret. Edward has broken the rules and Bella was ordered to be killed or turned into a vampire. A fight ensued for Bella's life but Alice settled it by having a vision that Bella would be a vampire in the future.
Also, here is where Bella's powers are further explored. She has the ability to resist most vampiric mental powers, which makes turning her into a vampire all the more attractive to the Volturi.
That's basically the movie. Phew!
So, here's the breakdown... New Moon is slightly superior to Twilight. Yes, not a lot of sequels are superior to the original movie (which should be a post on its own)...
Twilight did not have much to offer, except to introduce us to the characters and the courtship of Bella and Edward. It was a good movie, but the lack of vampiric action was its ultimate downfall. Plus, The Twilight Saga actually deviated from the popular vampiric lore AKA cross, stakes, garlic, holy water, sunlight... Twilight vamps do not burn in the sun, they just glow... which turned off a lot of people... :P
Anyway, New Moon has shapeshifters and the shifters brought in the action. Edward was missing for much of the film but it did not make a difference. Guess the movie is really about Bella... and although some say the scenes between Jacob and Bella's too long-winded, I enjoyed watching the two of them... which makes me officially Team Jacob... hehehe...
So, the bad... some of the acting could have been better... Taylor Lautner is definitely the breakout star of New Moon and his body is near perfect but his acting is sometimes off and it's not good when the wolf's emoting better than the actor... same goes for Robert Pattinson... Kristen Stewart's acting was not bad... but some of her dialogues are very corny...
The Volturi's Jane as played by Dakota Fanning had a very interesting power... but watching her in this movie made me realize something about Dakota Fanning... don't get me wrong... I am a huge fan of hers, ever since her I Am Sam days... she was excellent in that movie but in all her other movies, she's basically portraying the same person but with a different name... that's not exactly acting... hmmm... maybe it's just me...
Anyway, I am super excited for Eclipse, part 3 in the Twilight saga... which would be released June next year...
