Justin Bieber’s Manager Scooter Braun Found Guilty in 2009 Mall Mob Incident

Remember the “Free Scooter” campaign of 2009?

Back in November 2009, Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun was arrested at New York’s Roosevelt Field Mall for not cancelling a performance before the crowed grew unruly.

Almost 3,000 Bieber fans had shown up to see the singer perform when police were called to control the crowd.

Braun was told to cancel the performance and use Twitter to tell the fans to disperse.

Police cancelled the event but not after 5 people were injured and Braun had been arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance.

The next day, Bieber was seen sporting a t-shirt with the slogan “Free Scooter”.

Today, Scooter and Bieber’s record label Island Def Jam agreed to plead guilty on one count of violating a county safety ordinance. A rep commented,

“Basically they are just trying to settle the case and make it go away. It is water under the bridge and was only a moderate safety infraction. This way both sides can move on and put this issue behind them. After reviewing the case, both sides agreed things could have been handled better by everyone involved.”

Island will pay a small fine of $8,000 to settle the case and Bieber is ordered to do a PSA (Public Service Announcement) about cyber bullying.

Not bad when you consider that Bieber makes $300,000 per show, and has pulled in over $100 million dollars over the last year between his “My World” concert tour and widely successful 3D movie “Never Say never”.

For his part, Bieber is finishing his tour in Australia this week and has plans to move on to Japan later this month.

But his tour management company and stage crew have mounted a mutiny of sorts and are refusing to work in Japan due to the risk of radiation from last month’s earthquake and tsunami.

If the team can’t come to some sort of agreement soon, the May 17th and 19th shows in japan may have to be cancelled. Both Avril Lavigne and Slash have already cancelled shows at the same stadiums in Japan over health fears.

Once his tour is over later this month, Bieber plans to return to the U.S. and finish work on his third album and begin shooting his new movie with Mark Wahlberg.

Justin Bieber to Star in Movie with Mark Wahlberg – It’s Official

It’s official!

After almost three months of speculation it was announced that Justin Bieber has signed on with Mark Wahlberg for a new movie.

While the plot is still very sketchy, Wahlberg told Deadline.com the film was a street hoops basketball story similar in plot format to the Oscar winning “Fighter.”

Wahlberg says neither him nor Bieber will be singing or dancing in the film, and that this will be a good chance for Justin to bring his dramatic acting skills to the table.

Last year, Bieber was a guest on the popular CSI television franchise and later told reporters that he loved acting, and loved the process, and wanted to do more of it.

The movie idea came to fruition after Wahlberg watched Bieber play, and win MVP, at last year’s All-Star NBA game. (Video Below). Watching the video you certainly get the feel that Bieber knows his way around the basketball court.

But he also knows his way around the hockey rink, soccer field, basketball court, and football field. The kid is multi-talented and will be a perfect fit says Wahlberg.

Bieber is no stranger to the movie screen either. His 2011 3D movie “Never Say Never” has grossed almost $100 million worldwide, and he has also contributed music to friend Jaden Smith’s “Karate Kid” remake.

The movie will be produced by Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson, and Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun will also participate. The script will be written by Ian Edelman.

The film will be standard 2D and not a 3D version like Bieber’s “Never Say Never”, and most likely distributed by Paramount.

“The tone of the project is described as ‘The Color of Money’ meets ‘The Karate Kid’. Justin loved the idea, and he’s been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he’s really talented.”

Wahlberg also says there may also be a chance for Bieber to bring in a few of his friends like Ryan Butler, Jaden Smith or Chaz Somers for small bit parts or cameos.

But Bieber may find himself working on TWO movie projects this year as the L.A. Times has already reported Bieber is connected to a deal with Ashton Kutcher.

Could this be a new career for the teen singing sensation?

Bieber himself has told reporters that he loves acting and wants to do more of it. And Justin is at an age where most teen idols go into hiding for a year or two while they “grow out” of the awkward lanky years that have derailed so many young stars.

We say – go for it JB.

Review - The Other Guys

I got chosen for the free tickets to watch the preview of The Other Guys via Advertlets --> http://www.advertlets.com/weblog/2010/09/10/advertlets-presents-the-other-guys-preview-screening-this-12th-october-2010/

Had the hardest time trying to figure out what to write. Even contemplated not going at one point. Yup, that was how hard the topic was... anyway, finally got down to it and this is the product of it --> http://moviewritings.blogspot.com/2010/09/other-guys-preview-screening-by-sony.html

Hopefully it would be good enough to get me tickets... and I got the email like Monday nite from Jason, telling me I got the tickets. Yay!

So I set out looking for a friend to go with me to the preview. Was quite hard. Not a lot of people were available and/or free to go. In the end, my colleague saved the day and we went to Midvalley together. Had dinner at Sushi King. It's RM2 per plate week! Yum!

Okay, so the movie... I had very low expectations of the movie. Mostly because of Will Ferrell. He is not funny to me. Quite annoying. In most of his movies.

But it turned out quite well. Will Ferrell was not annoying. Much. But the movie's quite good, with some crazy one-liners and pop culture references. It's not as fast-paced as a cop movie but since the title is The Other Guys, so it was okay that the movie was not rock 'em sock 'em blow 'em up style.
However, Mark Wahlberg was being the annoying one. God, he was overacting a bit. Now I see what people were talking about. That he does overact here and there. His face was in a constant state of "I'm constipated". Reminds me of The Happening... sigh...
On a different note, it's nice to see Vince from Will & Grace and also Michael Keaton. Looks so aged... nice supporting with the funny TLC references...

Oh, forgot to mention... when I was queueing up to get the tickets, they told me I won something, like the last time... I won Nightmare on Elm Street t-shirt... I was excited... but then, he said I did not win anything... April Fool's came a bit too early... :(

But then, after the movie's finished, Josh from Advertlets got up and presented the winning blog posts with presents... I was not bitter, I kinda had to pee... but then I heard my name called! What the... woah... hehehhe... this is what I got:

I placed second! So unexpected! Thanks to Sony and Advertlets.

P/S - Was disappointed You Again got canceled... I love Kristen Bell...

The Other Guys Preview Screening by Sony Pictures and Advertlets

I have been thinking really hard about this. How do outcasts stand out? By definition alone, they should not stand out. Not really anyway. People notice outcasts but choose to not acknowledge them.

But lately, you can see that outcasts or the other guys have been standing out.

The best example I could think of... are from the movies or TV series. More and more shows now are made with nerds and geeks either as the lead or as one of the sidekicks. Chuck, The Big Bang Theory and countless cop shows like CSI or Bones. They all feature one outcast or another and they all play important roles to the storylines.

I have to admit that I am one of those nerds. Shy wallflower types that nobody would notice. Yup, I am sooooo The Other Guys. If the normal guys aren't around or busy, then only I'd come into the picture. Socially or at work, it's all the same.

But this ain't a pity party. I am okay with it. Some people are not that nice anyway. Hehehe.

Lately though, I have been singled out a lot. Like somehow I've stood out amongst the outcasts. Am not sure how, but people found out about my blogs. Okay, so I put my blogs at my facebook profile. How was I supposed to know people would read...

So now, this wallflower who used to coast on by without so much of a whimper... is a copywriter at work... thanks to his nerdy skills... and people come up to me with a lot of questions and asking help with scripts and stuff...

Don't get me wrong. I am still one of The Other Guys for sure... nobody bothers to include me in any of their plans... but they'd wanna join me for whatever it is that I am up to... weird eh?

Anyway, guess that's one of the advantages of being The Other Guys. You're kinda free to do whatever you want, however you want it, whenever you want it. You are not confined to other people's time, or interests or quirks.

And for the most part, people still leave you alone, which is exactly what I like. I mean, you can go off without people asking for you or wondering where you've gone off to.

For me, that's the best part of being one who doesn't fit in or an outcast.

And no, I am not gonna go all 'Carrie' on you normal folks at the preview... :)

"Max Payne" Hits Theaters - Review And Extended Movie Trailer

The autumn blockbuster movie season is heating up and last weekend seemed to jump start the action films. Just released - "Max Payne", starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Beau Bridges and Chris O'Donnell.

Coming together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a DEA agent (Mark Wahlberg), whose family was killed as part of a conspiracy, and an assassin (Mila Kunis), who is out to avenge her sister's death. The police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation hunt the pair.

Demons, in the shape of winged serpents, disturb Max, but nothing real or imagined will get in the way of his mission. Complicating things is Max Payne's guru B.B. (Beau Bridges), an ex-cop who is involved with security for a large pharmaceutical company, which may hold the key to the mystery.

Forces, both real and hidden, are hard at work to keep Max, who is clearly fighting his inner demons, from reaching his goal.

"Max Payne" delivered a strong performance at the box office Friday with $7.2 million pushing it to the number one spot. The adaptation of the popular video game had the widest release at 3,376 locations this weekend, gaining an early lead in what could transform into a solid box office weekend.

Mark Wahlberg Confronts Andy Samberg On SNL - Video

Mark Wahlberg visited the set of Saturday Night Live last night to settle the score with Andy Samberg. Last week, Samberg made fun of Wahlberg in a sketch called "Mark Wahlberg Talks With Animals".

Last night, Mark confronted Samberg backstage to settle the score.

The show was hosted by Josh Brolin who is currently appearing in the Oliver Stone film "W". Tina Fey joined to lampoon Alaskan Governor and Vice President candidate Sarah Palin, and Alec Baldwin made a special guest appearance to kick things off.

You have to believe that Lorne Michaels is loving this last few weeks, as Fey had left the show last year to focus on her own television show "30 Rock". It's nice to see her visit her old stomping grounds to help a guy out when he needs it.

Sarah Palin Does SNL - Watch Video

Alaskan governor and VP presidential candidate Sarah Palin made history Saturday night.

She made a special guest appearance on the long running hit sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live" on October 18.

In what can only be a result of the recent Tina Fey impersonations, and continual campaign gaffs, Palin took the opportunity to lampoon her shortcomings, and show the country she has a sense of humor.

Joined by Fey and Alec Baldwin, the two lampooned a Palin press conference. But SNL really missed an opportunity here, we thought the skit was somewhat lame and still think they should have done a "30 Rock" parody with Palin playing Fey's role - especially since they had Alec Baldwin there.

Where is Joe the plumber and Katie Couric when you need them? At least Mark Wahlberg stopped by to set the record straight with Andy Samberg about his "talking to animals" problem.
