Regine Velasquez Hailed as MYX Magna Awardee

I ♥ MYX Music Awards (MMA) 2011 ‘defies network affiliations.’

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez can’t help but be moved in tears as her husband singer/songwriter and Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) President Ogie Alcasid performed and fetched her from the audience to receive this year’s MYX Magna Award, the most coveted recognition in the recently held I ♥ MYX Music Awards (MMA) 2011.

Before Regine took the centerstage to thank all the people behind her historic win, most sought after young OPM artists who definitely idolize the Songbird, gave their best and enthralled everyone in their performance of some of of Regine’s best hits. Among these singers were MYX Music Awards 2011 biggest winner Yeng Constantino, Frencheska Farr, Julie Ann San Jose, Kyla, Mark Bautista, Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go.

Now on its 25th year in the music industry, Regine is overjoyed with the very touching homage she received from MYX, the country’s No.1 music channel. “Hindi ko alam na ganito pala kahalaga itong ginagawa ko,” said the Songbird in tears.

Regine was hailed MYX Magna Awardee alongside other OPM legends such as the Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Apo Hiking Society, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, The Eraserheads and Jose Mari Chan, who were awarded in the previous years. “I love Myx! Nag-iisa ka Myx! Salamat!,” ended Velasquez during her speech after receiving the award.

With all the music artists who attended - from all walks of the industry regardless of media organization they belong to - MYX Music Awards is, indeed, this year’s biggest gathering of the best of the best in Filipino music.

For the organizers of the MYX Music Awards, the whole thing - from the selection of the nominees to the awards night itself - was tiring yet worth it. In an interview right after the show, MYX Channel Head Andre Allan Alvarez said that with the positive feedback he got, not only from the spectators but from the artists themselves, his worries on the event all vanished.

With the very limited time and resources, we were able to assemble all these worthy performances, which all turned out to be very memorable. So, for us, we return all the praises we received to all the artists who participated. It’s indeed a celebration of local music that defies any network affiliation,” said Alvarez.

With the tagline “Your Choice. Your Music,” MYX has always been commended for being the venue of the still-growing to the now very popular artists. Alvarez wants to continue this legacy. He believes every music and artist - be it rock, pop, R&B, etc. - has its own potential of getting known worldwide.

As a music channel, MYX takes pride in letting artists perform no matter which network or station they belong. So long as you’re a performer or a musician, you’re welcome in our network. And tonight is a recognition for both the viewers and the artists - yung mga nanalo at yung mga nag-perform. Hindi ko alam kung ano’ng mararamdaman ko. I’m overwhelmed with the support and the success of the awards night,” Alvarez added.

Don’t miss the much-awaited re-airings of the MYX Music Awards 2011 on March 28, 3:30 p.m. and April 10, 8:00 p.m. MYX is exclusively available on SkyCable channel 23 in Metro Manila and in quality cable systems across the Philippines.
