Paranormal Activity

According to GSC, Paranormal Activity (PA) is scheduled to be shown in January.

Hmm, who has time to wait right? PA was the blockbuster hit during Halloween in the States... so I went and sought for its DVD and of course, found it.

Paranormal Activity is directed by Oren Peli and stars Katie Featherson and Micah Sloat as Katie and Micah. Katie is claiming that she's being haunted by some unknown entity and Micah, being the modern skeptic, decides to film their room while they are sleeping to see what really goes on.

This movie is kinda like The Blair Witch Project but without the nauseating camera work and Katie is not as annoying (or loud) like Heather from TBWP.

The setting is simple and the budget is apparently low but the scare tactics quite good. It really is kinda scary. The script sounds okay and real. The acting is okay, although sometimes it's a bit off. Yes, acting and script. This is a movie and not a real taped event. Had to remind my sister many, many times.

I've always said this... the things you can't see and/or touch are far scarier than things you can see... and Paranormal Activity (and The Blair Witch Project) employs this technique nicely. Of course, it is scary to see a bloodied, long haired, white wearing, pale faced woman limping towards a screaming person but it's far scarier not seeing the entity, yet we can see/tell its presence...

The ending... a bit too Blair Witch for me... and kinda ruined the previous scare factors... but still, it's a pretty good, entertaining movie to watch with loved ones and snuggle... :)
Watch the trailer....
